Samsung announces another budget phone, the Samsung Galaxy A23

Samsung have announced another budget 4G phone for their Galaxy A series. The phone is almost identical to the newly announced Samsung Galaxy A13, but will have more memory and will use a different processor.
The display will be the same as the A13, with a 6.6 inch TFT panel and a V cutout for the selfie camera. With a 1080 x 2408 resolution, pixel density is generously high at 400 ppi. Bezels are minimal thanks to an 83% body to screen ratio, and the panel will be protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
However, the Samsung Galaxy A23 will be slightly smaller and thinner, with dimensions at 164.5mm x 76.9mm x 8.4mm. The differences are negligible compared to the A13’s 165.1mm x 76.4mm x 8.8mm.
Interestingly, Samsung will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 for the processor, whereas the A13 will use Samsung’s own Exynos 850 chip. Regardless, both chips are low to mid-range, and on paper are quite similar, for performance that should more or less be the same.

The camera will also be the same as the A13, with a 50 MP f/1.8 wide camera, 5 MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera, 2 MP f/2.4 macro camera and 2 MP f/2.4 depth camera, with a front 8 MP selfie camera. However, the changed processor may have different post image processing capabilities, so output images may not look the same despite the same cameras. Furthermore, the A23 will have a camera bump, whereas the A13 does not. This is likely due to the A13 being slightly thicker, being able to hide it within the phone. The front and rear cameras will record video at 1080p 30fps.
The main difference is the storage / memory combinations. Whereas the A13 ranges from 3GB to 6GB RAM, the A53 will range from 4GB to 8GB. There will also be a microSD slot for expandable storage.
- 64GB storage, 4GB RAM
- 64GB storage, 6GB RAM
- 128GB storage, 6GB RAM
- 128GB storage, 8GB RAM
The 3.5mm headphone jack will remain, with a USB C port, 5000mAh battery, 25W fast charging and side mounted fingerprint sensor. There won't be a charger in the box.
The phone will run Android 12, with Samsung One UI 4.1. The Samsung Galaxy A23 will be available in Black, Blue. Peach or White. Pricing hasn’t been disclosed, but it should be similar to the budget A13’s £149.99 starting price.
