iPhone SE 4 leaked in new renders, expected to launch next year
Expected to launch in 2025, newly leaked renders give us an initial glance at Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4, showing off the first major revamp for the series since the initial launch in 2016.
The design is similar to the iPhone 14, including a notch for the cameras and the Face ID modules - both of which are firsts for the iPhone SE series. In addition, the home button has finally been retired, which was introduced 16 years ago with the release of the first iPhone.
The display will be a 6.1 inch panel supplied by Chinese firm BOE, using a previous generation of OLED technology. Newer LTPO OLED displays produced by Samsung, which cost more than twice as much, are reserved for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15.
The rear of the device will feature a single camera like the previous SE models, although the leaks don’t specify the exact specifications.
Although not revealed in the renders, we expect the upcoming device to ditch the Lightning port and opt for a USB C instead, keeping in-line with Apple’s existing lineup and complying with EU regulations.
Despite featuring a significantly larger 6.1 inch display compared to its predecessor, the iPhone SE 2022, with a modest 4.7 inch screen, the new device's overall footprint is not much larger. This is achieved by eliminating the home button, allowing for a significant reduction in the top and bottom bezels. With dimensions of 147.7 x 71.5 x 7.7mm, the device closely mirrors the iPhone 14 in size, a model it takes its design cues from.
