Initial reviews tout the Galaxy S24 Ultra as Samsung’s best phone in years
It’s been a while since Samsung have received some good news. With a slump in sales and declining revenue, the Galaxy S24 Ultra was reported as a make or break device for the South Korean company.
As initial reviews flow through following an embargo, the Galaxy S24 Ultra might just be the saviour Samsung were hoping for.
In an overwhelming positive review, The Verge praised the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra for its excellent camera quality and 7 years of OS and security updates. However, there were slight criticisms directed at its average battery life and mixed AI performance.
In a 4.5 star review, PCMag also praised the “terrific cameras” and “long support commitment”, but noted that the large size may not be for everyone. Although they did point out the Galaxy S24 Ultra is a very expensive device, they also stated that it’s “true of just about every other modern flagship”.
CNET’s 8.9 / 10 review also agreed with the general consensus, adding that the AI chat translations and Circle to Search were useful additions. While not necessarily a negative point, they did note that the new AI features will also be arriving to older Galaxy phones via updates.
Tom’s Guide’s 4.5 star review praised the “incredible processing power” and “long-lasting battery endurance”. The note on the long lasting battery life is interesting however, considering most reviews claim the Galaxy S24 Ultra has more or less average battery life.
Overall, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is certainly a win for Samsung. Whether it is entirely enough to save the company from a run of poor results will be left to be seen.
Pre-orders end in 1 day, with double storage for 256GB and 512GB models during this period, including additional extras like a free Galaxy Watch6.
