Google confirms Wi-Fi and Bluetooth problems with Pixel 6, promises fix in March
An update released earlier this month for Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro models has been causing various Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity problems. Users of Google’s latest flagship phone have been experiencing constant Wi-Fi disconnects, with some having to disable bluetooth for Wi-Fi to work, and vice versa.
Google have now acknowledged there are a smaller number of users experiencing these issues, and they are working towards a fix to be released in March. The exact issue causing these problems for only a select amount of phones has not been disclosed, so we still don’t know if this is primarily a hardware or software problem, or what the common denominator is.
“After some investigation, we identified the root cause and determined that it impacts a very small number of devices. Of course, we realise this is a poor experience and immediately developed a software fix that will be available in the next Google Pixel Update, rolling out in March”, said Google.
Some users have found installing Android 12L beta 3 fixes the issues. Furthermore, Google has asked users to contact them for a temporary solution, until the fix is released. Exactly what this entails isn’t publicly disclosed - it could be a temporary replacement phone, or an experimental update.
The search giant hasn't had the best luck with Google Pixel 6 updates. The phone has been plagued by various software related issues since its release. Hopefully, Google will improve their quality assurance for future updates - however, going by their history, we somehow doubt it.
